We haven't been able to get to our site in about a week which means that we are posting blind. We don't know if this is a typepad difficulty or if typepad has finally been blocked by the Great Firewall of China. We're hoping things clear up soon, but until then, we probably won't be able to post pictures. Sorry for the false start on the backposting.

K: Day 44 - Home Again!
It feels soooooo good to be home in our little apartment in Yinchuan! We got home this morning at about 10:30 after an eighteen hour train ride from Xi'an. If you had been in the house you may have thought we'd never seen the place before. We were looking in all the cupboards and closets to remember that we have more than 20kg worth of stuff to our names, and checking the growth of the plants, and plugging things in. We went into town and ate the most Chinese thing we could find, Jaozi (roughly translated "dumplings", but I promise that unless you've eaten them yourself, you're not picturing the right thing; "potstickers" is probably closer). We picked up some groceries and some packages that were awaiting our return at the post office and then I slept all afternoon in my bed! Bliss. Now Nick is cooking dinner, Chinese actually because we can't get enough of the stuff right now and it's too cold to go back out. There's snow on the ground here, but honestly I'd rather see that right now than the beach. =0 It's really good to be home.
P.S. We're planning to do some backposting about our travels with pictures and all, so stay tuned!

Day 33
Sorry for the silence. We're just realizing that with all the press China is getting about the snow storms that we may have even caused some concern. We're fine. We're in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where we have been for the past 27 days.
And a busy 27 days it has been. We completed two weeks of graduate classes, one in Curriculum and Materials Development and one in Assessment. Incredibly useful for the work we do as teachers, but honestly not super exciting for the ol' blog site. After that we had about three days before our annual organizational conference began. We spent it resting and riding around on the motorbike that we rented.
Yesterday was the last day of our annual organizational conference. It was a good week, but it was packed full of meetings and training sessions and connecting with people we only see once a year.
Tonight we head down to Bangkok and then in the morning we fly further down to Malaysia for a few days of vacation with our old teammate, A, before we start the trek back up to China.
N is drumming his fingers which is my cue to wrap this up, so we'll write again when we can, but i'm thinkin' we'll be doing some backposting from home.
Happy Chinese New Year!
