N: Place Your Bets

IMG_6127
Family and friends recently threw a baby shower for K and me in Rockwall.  It was a Mad Hatter baby shower and tea party.  Pretty awesome time and lots of colorful decorations.  The pictures are all from that party.IMG_6127

***************

We will be
soon be joining the other crooning parents of the world searching for
something, anything!, to sing to our crying and uncomfortable baby boy.  IMG_6221
I mentally went through a short list of
lullabies, only able to make it about halfway through each one before trailing
off into the next one.  I’ll check
the web for lullabies later.
Towards the end of my short list I started to mix in some campfire songs
and folk songs.  Camptown Races was
the song I knew the most words to.
Remember the chorus? IMG_6180

"Gwine to run all night!
Gwine to run all day!

I'll bet my
money on de bob-tail nag -- Somebody bet on de bay!"

Ahhh
yes.  Singing about gambling to a
young impressionable child.  Makes
you feel all good on the inside.

So in honor
of LP, gambling, and songs I’ll sing to my son, I thought we could do a thing
or two.  As a reader you have an
easy opportunity to win not one but two pounds of coffee from Starbucks.  You can win IMG_6175
one of them by guessing the
day and time that LP will be born.
The person who gets the closest wins a pound of whatever coffee they
want (as long as it is available).
Another guess you can make to win another pound of coffee is his birth
weight.  The person who is the
closest wins a pound of coffee.

I would
suggest for the when guess to pick a day AND a time.  For the weight, guess pounds and
ounces.

You can
guess by leaving a comment after this post.  Easy easy.  Make
sure you enter your correct email address so I can get in touch with you if you
win.

Here are the
facts we know:

According to
an internet calculator the due date is September 20.  According to the most recent ultrasound and LP’s
development, it is the 21st.
According to the chart in the OB’s office (which doesn’t account for
leap year) our official due date is the 22nd.

On August
11, according to ultrasound, LP weighed 5 lbs 4 oz.

As of last week Thursday, K was 80% effaced, 1cm dilated, and baby was at +1.

Happy
guessing!  You should
check out Rockabye Baby! after making your best guess at delivery date and time
and/or taking a stab at birth weight.   K and I bought an album’s worth of songs from iTunes
for LP once he arrives.

  3. History has shown that I'm bad at guessing. I will offer that Laura loves it when I sing Thriller to her. Might even be a fitting song to sing together during labor as it can be quite scary.

I will say that I won a jelly beans in a jar guessing contest when I was in elementary school. I got to take jelly beans to lunch for at least a month after that. Not sure if I have won much of anything since then.

White noise is Laila's favorite lullaby.
But, for a song to sing Skida-marinky-dinky-dink (sp?)is our fav.

  14. J. really liked "in the jungle", T. really likes puff the magic dragon. It seems to change though because for awhile they had me sing the teenage mutant ninja turtles theme song.
