K: Shep Eats

After approximately a month in China in which we saw lots of friends, introduced N's parents to the "ends of the earth," and moved all of our belongings out of our former apartment and into storage, we are back in Waco. It was a good trip, and it's good to be back.

There's a lot of literature and even more opinions about the proper timing for starting baby on solids. We set our sights on six months which will be near the end of March. But while we were gone, it became increasingly obvious that Shep was ready for that first taste. He watched with interest as we brought food and drink from table to mouth; he reached for chopsticks, teacups, and bowls of rice; he drooled over the rims of cups and mouths of water bottles he was given to play with. "When we get back" became the new sight for starting solids. We got back in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, I took a day to do my research and collect the necessary paraphenalia, and then as of noon today, Shep has joined the ranks of the spoon fed and cup sippers.
